A Little Love for Victoria, BC πΏπ
I have called beautiful Victoria, BC, home for the past six years while completing my degree at UVic. Although I have spent a lot of time here throughout my life visiting family, living here has given me a whole new appreciation for this little city on Vancouver Island.
When people think of Victoria, they might picture the famous Butchart Gardens, the Royal BC Museum, the beautiful Empress Hotel, or the Inner Harbor. And while those places are absolutely worth experiencing, there is so much more to Victoria than its well-known tourist attractions.
Over the years, I’ve watched downtown Victoria grow and change. There are so many new little shops, trendy coffee spots, restaurants, breweries, and local businesses popping up. Whether you’re looking for a cozy coffee shop, a nice brunch spot, a delicious dinner, a walk along the waterfront, or somewhere to spend an afternoon exploring, there is always something to discover.
One of the things I love most about living here is how close everything feels to nature. You can spend your morning downtown, grab a coffee, explore local shops, and then find yourself at the beach, walking through a forest, or watching the sunset by the ocean. There is such a beautiful balance between city life and the outdoors.
Victoria has its own pace. It can be busy and lively, especially during the warmer months, but it also has quiet corners and beautiful places to slow down and enjoy your surroundings.
After six years of living here, I am still finding new places, trying new restaurants, and discovering little corners of the Island that I hadn’t explored before. I think that is one of the best things about this city. There is always something new to experience, even in a place you think you already know.
Whether you’re visiting for the weekend, moving here for school, or lucky enough to call the Island home, I hope to share some of my favorite places, local recommendations, hidden gems, and little adventures around Victoria and beyond. π€
